A Secret Grave 72: Troll Attack

.

Charged with slander? Well, possibly. I sure do write a lot of stuff about a lot of people. But, as I’ve said before, the names of people in really sensitive situations are changed as are their stories. I had a few more comments from my troll and then a copy cat entered the picture and they went back and forth together.

The troll is referring to my Hillary before and after paintings which went to Art Basel with Alicia. In my opinion it would have made more sense for those paintings to be stolen than the portrait of Victor, but I suppose the image of Victor carries with it intimations of magical powers, the fountain of youth, and so has become – for anyone in possession of the piece – a  kind of altar-worthy, protective icon.

Victor, the stolen portrait

There’s been no more news about the stolen painting, which, by the way, was the only one filched from the truck. According to the cops, Charlie Diaz, 26 years old, married and the father of three young children, was clean as a whistle, no history of priors. I don’t believe an art transport company would hire anyone who wasn’t clean, so one has to wonder what kind of history Charlie had that left him open to blackmail and criminal behavior. Before the transport job, he’d worked as a short order cook in a number of places, managed a few restaurants, moved furniture, and been a night manager for one or two motels on Florida’s east coast. Perhaps he was in dire need of money and the pay-off looked like it was going to be big. Or perhaps, on a more sinister note, whoever he delivered that painting to (or whoever the middleman in the venture was) threatened the lives of his children. Not a place I really want to go here on artprofiler.com with all the trolls weighing in. Maybe better to stick to the emerging story of Janet K. Johnson, Betsy Shapiro’s purported sister, who has sent me quite a number of emails in the past few days.
