Vulnerable and Scared

CD Knowles 5 months ago

Dear Knowles,

I will keep this short as I am afraid. And I will not use my real name. I am fourteen years old and I was raped (more than once) by my mother’s brother who is 38. I cannot tell my mom about it. She would not believe me. I can’t tell my dad either (for the same reason). There’s no one I can talk to and I don’t know what to do. I’m afraid of getting pregnant. I can’t protect myself from my uncle who everyone thinks is a wonderful guy. He doesn’t live with us but he’s around a lot.

Please help,

Vulnerable and Scared

vulnerable and scared

Dear Vulnerable,

Your uncle has committed a serious crime against you. He may do that to other girls as well. It’s your duty to report him to the authorities so that he cannot hurt anyone again. Once there is legal action, your parents and family will begin to understand the horror of the situation and what this monster has done to you. Since you can’t talk to your parents, talk to your school guidance counselor who should be trained in these matters and will know exactly what to do. If you are home-schooled, then talk to your priest or minister or to the mother of one of your friends. Whatever you do, act quickly. I’m sorry for what has happened to you and wish you the best of luck,

hates his sister

Dear Brother,

Sounds like everyone’s scared of your sister. Ding dong, time to get rid of her. Sincerely,

– Jason A., Hillsdale, MI

Dear Brother,

I think you should have a family intervention with your sister same as if she were a drug addict. Sounds like she’s the one with a problem that needs to be fixed, not the rest of you. I’d love to hear what happens. Best,

Hildie S., Great Barrington, MA
